Meet Stephen Donnelly TD
Stephen lives in Wicklow with his wife and three young children. He’s a TD for Wicklow and Fianna Fáil’s spokesperson on healthcare. He first ran for the Dáil in 2011, at which time he was working as a management consultant for McKinsey & Co. There, he specialised in transformational change and healthcare.
He has worked in many other sectors including private equity, retail, public infrastructure, education, international development, the voluntary and social sectors. At the Harvard Kennedy School he studied international development, with a focus on rebuilding economies and protecting and strengthening vulnerable populations.
Over the past few years, he’s been putting a healthcare plan together for Fianna Fáil, should the party lead the next government. This has included listening carefully to healthcare workers around Ireland, who tend to know a lot of what needs to change to get things working properly for patients. Stephen got into politics to help people. He believes that a healthy economy, strong community and great public services work together, and make each other stronger.
He believes that all children should grow up with the same opportunities, in the need for a vibrant economy, great public services, and support for vulnerable individuals and groups. He believes this is possible, and that a heap of work is required to get Ireland moving back in that direction.
